Job summary

First Bus is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Rochdale Depot to lead a skilled engineering team and oversee workshop operations. You will ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective engineering performance while driving fleet availability and continuous improvement.

Ideal candidates have proven leadership, a mechanical engineering qualification, and familiarity with SAP and MS Office, along with a PCV or forklift license being desirable.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams and budgets.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance legislation (VOSA/MOT).

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the engineering team at Rochdale Depot.
• Oversee depot and workshop operations.
• Ensure safety, health, and environmental compliance.
• Monitor budgets and cost control.
• Drive continuous improvement and process development.
• Manage subcontracted engineering work.
• Maintain fleet availability and performance.
• Develop staff training and performance reviews.
• Communicate with senior management and cross-functional teams.
