Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead civil engineering activities for a major infrastructure programme on the Suffolk coast, including Sizewell C. The role requires technical leadership, design assurance, and strong stakeholder engagement to ensure safe, compliant delivery.

You will oversee temporary works, risk management, and multidisciplinary teams, guiding engineers toward high-quality results on a nationally significant project.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering and Chartered Engineer status (MICE, MIStructE or equivalent).
• Strong experience in civil engineering with technical leadership and engineering management responsibilities.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale or technically complex infrastructure projects.
• Experience in design management, temporary works, technical assurance and construction engineering.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering design standards, construction methodologies and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, influence technical decisions and communicate confidently with stakeholders.
• CSCS card.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership: Leading and overseeing civil engineering activities, providing guidance from design through to construction and delivery.
• Design management and assurance: Managing contractor and temporary works design, reviewing drawings, specifications and calculations for compliance and buildability.
• Temporary works and construction engineering: Overseeing temporary works, construction methods and lifting operations as appropriate.
• Engineering risk management: Identifying technical risks and developing mitigation strategies in line with safety requirements.
• Team leadership: Mentoring engineers and specialists, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Stakeholder engagement: Collaborating with project managers, designers, contractors and clients to resolve challenges and maintain progress.
• Quality and technical compliance: Reviewing ITPs, RAMS and promoting standards across the project.
