Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown PLC is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a backend/integration squad as part of a multi-year transformation. The role combines hands-on technical work with people leadership to build scalable APIs, events and data flows that connect journeys to core platforms.

You will work across Product, Architecture and Operations to deliver secure, observable cloud-native services on AWS, while guiding legacy migrations and modernisation with a strong engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a backend or integration engineering team.
• Strong software engineering experience with modern backend languages.
• Deep knowledge of REST APIs, messaging and event-driven architectures.
• Experience operating cloud-native services on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, IAM).
• Experience delivering infrastructure as code with Terraform and automated delivery through CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of testing, observability, resilience, security and production support.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on engineering leadership with contribution to backend services and integrations.
• Define and own the squad's technical direction and architecture.
• Build and improve reusable domain services, APIs and data flows across platforms.
• Drive modernisation of legacy systems with safe migration and decommissioning.
