Job summary

Thomas Gray Ltd partners with a successful housebuilder to strengthen their Technical department with an Engineering Manager. You will lead the design, coordination and delivery of infrastructure and civil works that bring communities to life on residential developments.

This is an off-market opportunity for engineers with senior-level experience in low-rise traditional build housing from developer, consultancy, or main contractor backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Experience in housebuilding, consultancy or civil engineering at a senior level.
• Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure design, groundworks, and adoption processes.
• Deep familiarity with Building Regulations and planning processes.
• Proficient with CAD and engineering design software (Civil 3D or PDS).
• Highly organized with strong communication and proactive problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of infrastructure, drainage, highways and external works for residential developments.
• Review drawings, specs and calculations for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate submissions to local authorities and statutory bodies (S38, S278, S104).
• Act as technical interface between consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Provide senior technical support to site teams and resolve on-site issues.
• Monitor progress, budgets and risks from an engineering perspective.
• Support adoption processes for completed infrastructure with relevant authorities.

You will work across a variety of live projects, managing the design, coordination, and delivery of infrastructure and civil works that bring communities to life. This is an off-market opportunity we are handling exclusively, ideal for engineers with experience in low-rise traditional build housing from either a developer, consultancy, or main contractor background.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take the lead role in the design and delivery of infrastructure, drainage, highways and external works for residential developments.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications and calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Manage and coordinate technical submissions to local authorities and statutory bodies (S38, S278, S104, etc.).
• Act as a key technical interface between consultants, contractors, and internal teams to support the delivery of cost-effective and buildable solutions.
• Provide senior-level technical support to site teams and help resolve on-site engineering issues.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and risks from an engineering perspective.
• Support adoption processes for completed infrastructure and liaise with relevant authorities.
