Job summary

Sofina Foods is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function and drive sustainable continuous improvement across the site. The role focuses on maximizing asset performance and operational efficiency through lean asset management and planned maintenance strategies.

The ideal candidate will have proven engineering leadership in manufacturing, strong maintenance knowledge, and a track record of delivering improvements while upholding GMP, HACCP and BRC standards.

Qualifications

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering function and driving a culture of sustainable continuous improvement across the site.

The role focuses on maximising asset performance and operational efficiency through the development and implementation of lean asset management and planned maintenance strategies. Working closely with key stakeholders, the Engineering Manager delivers immediate, short-term and medium-term business objectives in line with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), ensuring the achievement of all Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Environment and Manpower (QCDSEM) targets.

A key aspect of the role is developing capability within the engineering team through effective coaching, talent development and succession planning, ensuring the business is well positioned to meet future objectives.

The Engineering Manager also plays a pivotal role in fostering a high-performing and engaging working environment where colleagues feel motivated, valued and empowered to achieve exceptional results.

Key Duties

As a Engineering Manager, you'll:

• Lead and promote a positive, high-performing culture, motivating teams to achieve operational excellence.
• Drive maintenance performance through planned, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies, maximising equipment reliability and uptime.
• Champion food safety, quality and compliance standards, ensuring adherence to GMP, HACCP, BRC and all customer requirements.
• Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve efficiency and enhance factory performance.
• Take ownership of engineering budgets, resources and asset performance, ensuring cost-effective operations and value delivery.
• Lead by example on health, safety and environmental standards, fostering a zero-harm culture across the site.
• Develop, coach and mentor team members and cross-functional colleagues, building capability and supporting succession planning.
• Stay at the forefront of engineering best practice, embracing new technologies, developing expertise and driving innovation within the business.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone with a proactive approach, strong technical capability and a commitment to delivering high standards.

You’ll ideally have:

• Proven engineering leadership experience within a fast-paced manufacturing or food production environment, with a track record of improving reliability, performance and team capability.
• Strong technical knowledge of planned, predictive and corrective maintenance, coupled with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Experienced in driving compliance with food safety, quality and regulatory standards, including GMP, HACCP and BRC requirements.
• A proactive and data-driven problem solver who can identify root causes, implement sustainable solutions and deliver measurable business results.
• An inspiring people leader with excellent communication skills, capable of developing high-performing teams, coaching others and building strong cross-functional relationships.
