Job summary

Kier Group is seeking an Electrical Lead to provide discipline authority for all electrical design across the Thames AMP8/AMP9 portfolio, delivering a £150M+ capital programme. The role is based across the Thames Water Region and reports into the Engineering Leadership Team to ensure electrical design authority across active schemes.

Responsibilities include technical sign-off, coordination with supply chain partners, and mentoring engineers to build in-house capability within Kier Thames AMP8

Qualifications

• HV/LV electrical design authority in water/utilities sector.
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition).
• Experience with CDM 2015 designer obligations (Regulation 9).
• Knowledge of Motor Control Centre, RTU design and PLC/SCADA interfaces.
• Hold a Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical sign-off for all electrical design across active schemes and maintain HV/LV standards.
• Coordinate with electrical supply chain partners and ICA Lead for outputs.
• Discharge CDM duties and contribute to safety initiatives.
• Mentor electrical engineers and develop competency framework across the portfolio.
• Support DfMA initiatives and attend governance meetings.

We’re looking for an Electrical Lead to join our Kier Thames AMP8/AMP9 Portfolio team based across the Thames Water Region.

Location: across the Thames Water Region

Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Join us as an Electrical Lead and provide discipline authority for all electrical design across the Kier Thames AMP8 portfolio. You’ll be delivering a £150M+ capital portfolio for Thames Water, including major treatment works upgrades. This is an exciting opportunity to develop in‑house electrical engineering capability whilst working within our Engineering Leadership Team, providing electrical design authority across every active scheme.

What will you be responsible for?

• Providing technical sign‑off for all electrical design across active schemes and maintaining HV/LV electrical design standards
• Managing electrical supply chain partners' technical output and coordinating with the Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Lead
• Discharging Construction Design and Management (CDM) duties and contributing to the Safer by Design programme
• Mentoring electrical engineers and developing the electrical engineer competency framework across the portfolio
• Supporting Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) initiatives and attending monthly Design Functional Update governance meetings

What are we looking for?

• You have demonstrable High and Low Voltage electrical design authority in the water and utilities sector
• You possess strong working knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition)
• You have experience of Construction Design and Management (CDM) 2015 designer obligations (Regulation 9)
• You bring knowledge of Motor Control Centre, Remote Terminal Unit design and PLC/SCADA interface systems
• You hold a Full driving licence
