Job summary

Invictus Group in London is seeking an experienced Engineering Shift Leader to join a landmark City of London building. You will lead a skilled facilities team and oversee the safe operation of essential M&E systems, taking responsibility for planned and reactive maintenance.

You can be electrically or mechanically biased and will take on AP responsibilities where qualified, managing contractors and ensuring compliance with site procedures on a continental shift pattern (7am–7pm).

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The Role

Are you an experienced Shift Engineer / Engineering Supervisor looking for your next challenge in one of London’s most prestigious skyscrapers?

We’re looking for an Engineering Shift Leader to join a highly skilled facilities team within a landmark City of London building.

You can be either electrically or mechanically biased, but you must have a strong all-round understanding of building services and be confident leading an engineering shift.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll take responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the building, ensuring critical engineering systems are maintained and issues are dealt with quickly and professionally.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the engineering team during your shift.
• Take responsibility for the day‑to‑day operation of the building's M&E systems.
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance.
• Diagnose and respond to mechanical and electrical faults.
• Manage contractors and specialist subcontractors.
• Ensure all engineering activities are carried out safely and in accordance with site procedures.
• Complete shift handovers and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Respond to plant failures and engineering emergencies.Support the building's PPM, compliance and statutory requirements.
• Take on Authorised Person (AP) responsibilities where qualified.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Shift Engineer, Lead Engineer, Engineering Supervisor or Shift Leader.
• Strong electrical or mechanical engineering background.
• Good all-round knowledge of both mechanical and electrical building services.
• Experience working within a commercial office, high‑rise, critical environment or similar.
• Good understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, BMS, pumps, motors and general building services.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
• Confident leading engineers and dealing with contractors.
• Good knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance.
• AP experience/qualifications would be highly advantageous.

Package

• £60,000 basic salary
• + £1,500 AP bonus per authorised discipline ( Mechanical, High Voltage, confined spaces)
• Continental shift pattern
• 7am–7pm shifts
