Job summary

The Key is seeking an Engineering Lead to drive the design and delivery of our Ed-tech compliance suite. You will lead a 2–3 person squad, balance hands-on development with architectural ownership, and partner with product teams in discovery to shape the roadmap.

You will champion AI-native engineering, mentor engineers, and collaborate across squads to ensure scalable, reliable systems that support educators and leaders in a socially conscious company.

Qualifications

• Hands-on senior engineer who still ships with modern web stacks (TypeScript/React/Node and Python).
• AI-native practice with daily use of agentic coding tools (Claude Code or similar).
• Technical leadership with architectural ownership and mentoring of a small squad.
• Strong product partnership, comfortable in discovery and scope trading with product peers.
• People management experience or readiness with support.
• Excellent written and spoken English for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Hands-On Technical Leadership: code regularly and own the squad's architectures and health.
• Feasibility & Product Partnership: sign off on briefs before sprint entry and ship tested code.
• People Leadership: line-manage 2–3 engineers with regular 1-2-1s and development plans.
• AI-Native Engineering: drive agentic practices and collaborate on AI-health across the org.
• Cross-Squad Collaboration: coordinate with other leads and platform squads; reuse shared services.
