Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is seeking an Engineering Lead in Northampton to support the Engineering Manager with day-to-day delivery of engineering services. You will supervise engineers, contractors and maintenance activities while ensuring safe, compliant and efficient service delivery across the estate.

You will coordinate Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive works, providing hands-on technical support and leadership to ensure high safety, quality and customer service

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical, mechanical or building services engineering background with relevant engineering qualifications and trade experience.
• Experience supervising engineers, contractors or maintenance teams.
• Strong understanding of planned and reactive maintenance, statutory compliance, health and safety requirements, RAMS, permits and safe systems of work.
• Experience managing specialist engineering suppliers and contractors, coordinating multiple priorities effectively.

Role Responsibilities

• Support the Engineering Manager with the day-to-day management of engineering services across the administration office portfolio.
• Coordinate planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring works are completed safely, compliantly and to the required technical standards.
• Provide hands‑on supervision and technical support to engineers, specialist suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and customer service.
• Monitor defects, remedial works, statutory maintenance activities and engineering records, ensuring actions are completed and appropriately evidenced.
• Promote a positive engineering culture focused on safety, compliance, ownership, quality and customer service whilst acting as the first point of escalation for day-to‑day engineering issues.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.

• Recognised electrical, mechanical or building services engineering background with relevant engineering qualifications and trade experience.
• Previous experience supervising engineers, contractors or maintenance teams within a building maintenance environment.
• Strong understanding of planned and reactive maintenance, statutory compliance, health and safety requirements, RAMS, permits and safe systems of work.
• Experience managing specialist engineering suppliers and contractors, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities effectively.
• Competent in the use of CAFM and maintenance management systems with strong communication and organisational skills.
