Salary: £124,653 - £169,910 (depending on location)
Location: Edinburgh or London
Hours: Full-time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our London or Edinburgh office.

About This Opportunity
The Everyday Banking (EDB) Platformincludes four core labs, the Platform is responsiblefor theend-to-end journeys for Banking and Savings products, providing market leading customer experience via the servicing of Debit and Credit cards, across multiple channels. Our agile teams span across our UK hubs in London, Manchester and Edinburgh and internationally in Hyderabad, India.

What You’ll Do
The Engineering Lead role is a key leadership position responsible for setting the overall direction for our teams and putting in place the environment that allows our technologists to succeed. They are responsible for ensuring that technology change and run activities are delivered effectively and that a culture of constant efficiency improvement is inculcated into the teams to enable on-going improvement.
In addition, they are responsible for keeping their area safe through effective risk and resilience management and that there is a tight handle on costs. Software Engineering Leads often work alongside their Product Owner counterparts to ensure that technology considerations are factored into decision making appropriately.
- Takes overall responsibility for designing, developing and delivering custom data management systems for the organisation.
- Grow capabilities within a significant functional area of the business, while personally investing in the growth of own and others' capabilities elsewhere in the organisation through mentoring and other informal methods.
- Developing and delivering change management plans and achieving outcomes that support the organisation's overall strategy.
- Implement IT Security policies for a broad area within the organisation.
- Fulfilling business plans for a significant functional business area by effectively leading a large team.
- Develop long term objectives and takes responsibility for implementing and coordinating a performance management culture for a significant functional area of the organisation.
- Takes responsibility for developing and delivering a major part of the organisation's product development programme in order to enable overall corporate strategy.
- Build the strategy to achieve medium term business needs for a significant area of responsibility e.g. a function by anticipating complex issues, challenges and opportunities and ensures implementation and execution of the strategy.
What You’ll Need
- Proven experience defining technology vision and architecture working closely with lead architects to drive strategic development
- A deep, inquisitive focus on technology, with a track record of identifying opportunities to optimise and enhance systems and processes
- A strong understanding of the experience, with hands on experience in improving team productivity, morale and overall efficiency
- A solid background in resilience and security by design, ensuring teams take full ownership of production issues and prioritise a customer first approach
- A passion for developing talent, fostering a product-based mindset, attracting and retaining top engineering talent.
- Experience in creatinghigh performing teamsand mobilising them to deliver solutions indemanding timescales.
