Your impact

Playing a key part in our Water Catchment Management & Maritime capability team in the UK, you will be involved in the technical delivery of a wide scope of geological and hydrogeological projects. As part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will also provide functional expertise in water resource management and environmental impact assessments.

About The Opportunity

In this newly created role, your remit will include:

  1. Supporting excavation dewatering projects, tunnelling projects, and assessments for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  2. Scoping, supervising, and interpreting ground investigations to support engineering design.
  3. Producing and interpreting groundwater reports to support underground structures design, groundwater management, and hydro-geomechanical behaviour assessment.
  4. Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  5. Promoting the consideration of engineering hydrogeology to foster innovative project solutions.
  6. Liaising with contractors, laboratories, and regulators.

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations, enabling them to deliver their best work.

Here's what you'll need

We would be delighted to hear from candidates with a blend of the following:

  • Honours degree in earth sciences or equivalent.
  • Chartered with the ICE or Geological Society (or similar).
  • Demonstrable track record of technical delivery of engineering hydrogeology projects.
  • Experience of groundwater site characterisation, site investigation supervision, and quantitative groundwater assessments.
  • Exposure to supervising in situ testing including variable head tests, packer tests, pumping tests, etc.
  • Experience in specifying and supervising the installation of groundwater monitoring instrumentation.
  • A sound knowledge of numerical modelling (such as SEEP/W, Groundwater Vistas, or similar software).

The role will require occasional work away from your base office.
