Job summary

Shillito Group seeks a Health & Safety Risk Assessment and Safe Systems Specialist on an engineering-focused, 18-month fixed-term contract. You will lead risk assessment workshops, develop safe working procedures, and translate operational knowledge into practical, compliant documents.

You will produce two-page pictorial summaries and animated safety training materials, ensuring formal sign-off and auditability while coordinating with production, engineering and maintenance teams on site.

Qualifications

Demonstrated Health & Safety professionalism within engineering/manufacturing.
Significant experience facilitating operational risk assessments and developing safe systems of work.
Experience writing formal risk assessments, method statements and safe working procedures.
Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Excellent written communication and document production capabilities.
Experience producing visual safety communications and training materials.
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
Strong working knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and risk management principles.

Responsibilities

Lead and facilitate risk assessment workshops with operational teams.
Develop and maintain risk assessment documentation and safe working procedures.
Coordinate review meetings and secure formal approvals from management.
Create visual safety communications and two-page pictorial summaries for shop floor use.
Produce animated training videos to support workforce training and competence requirements.
Build relationships with production, engineering, maintenance and management teams to promote risk controls.
