Job summary

Sonovision UK, part of the Ortec Group, is seeking a motivated Technical Author to join our Technical Publications team. You will contribute to the creation and maintenance of manuals, guides and maintenance documentation across the product lifecycle.

This role suits engineering graduates or technicians aiming to move into technical documentation. You will receive structured training and mentoring while developing skills in technical writing, data analysis and information management.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND, apprenticeship or equivalent in engineering, technical or scientific discipline.
• Ability to understand and interpret technical information.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Organise and prioritise workload effectively.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to learn new systems and tools.

Responsibilities

• Create and update technical manuals, procedures, user guides and maintenance documentation.
• Interpret engineering information including drawings, specifications, parts data, models and design documentation.
• Research technical information and engage with engineering subject matter experts.
• Produce clear, accurate and logically structured technical content.
• Support development and maintenance of Illustrated Parts Data and related records.
• Check documentation for quality, accuracy and consistency; work with content management systems.
• Collaborate with engineers, project teams and customers to resolve technical queries.
• Support documentation projects through planning, development, review and delivery stages.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the Technical Publications team.
