Job summary

Quest Global Engineering Limited seeks a Technical Publications Engineer in the United Kingdom to create installation manuals, user guides, and other technical documents for heavy industry projects.

You will collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing, and product teams to interpret drawings and CAD models, ensuring clear, user‑friendly documentation that meets customer and industry standards. Solid Edge experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Experience in an engineering design role or environment involving rotating machinery.
• Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear boxes.
• Appreciation of bolted joint analysis and shock assessment related to geared transmission systems.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
• Proficiency in root‑cause analysis and failure mode analysis techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Author and update installation manuals, maintenance procedures, service manuals, engineering change documentation, assembly and disassembly instructions, and any other client‑facing technical documentation.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models, and BOMs to develop user‑centric documentation.
• Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing, and product teams to understand product functionality.
• Develop content for 2D/3D illustrations using tools such as Solid Edge or equivalent.
• Work within customer processes, systems, equipment, and facilities, maintaining standards, procedures, and SOPs in accordance with national, international, and customer requirements.
• Support project meetings, supplier meetings, and customer meetings, providing updates and support on metallurgy function‑related issues as required.

As a Technical Publications Engineer, you will be responsible for developing high-quality technical documentation, including installation manuals, user guides, and other technical writing requirements. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, clear, and user‑friendly documentation that meets customer and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Author and update installation manuals, maintenance procedures, service manuals, engineering change documentation, assembly and disassembly instructions, and any other client‑facing technical documentation.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models, and BOMs to develop user‑centric documentation.
• Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing, and product teams to understand product functionality.

• Experience designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies, and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gears, and gear boxes.
• Knowledge of subsystems that impact mechanical design/layout.
• Proficiency in a 3D CAD package for both modeling and drawing, ideally Solid Edge.
