Job summary

Elliot Marsh in Hertfordshire is seeking an Engineering Director to lead strategy across a growing FMCG manufacturing group. You will report directly to the CEO and steer engineering across multiple sites, balancing hands-on leadership with strategic governance.

The role requires delivering large-scale capital expenditure, driving automation and reliability improvements, and shaping the engineering function for long-term growth with significant travel across UK sites.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of engineering leadership within FMCG or high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Extensive experience delivering large-scale capital expenditure programmes and implementing automation solutions.
• Strong knowledge of engineering best practice, maintenance strategy, asset management and operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the CEO as a member of the senior leadership team.
• Lead and develop engineering and maintenance teams across multiple manufacturing sites.
• Develop and implement the Group engineering strategy in line with business objectives.
• Deliver major capital projects from concept through to successful completion.
• Drive automation and technology-led improvements to increase productivity, efficiency and capacity.
• Maximise asset reliability, equipment performance and operational effectiveness.
• Establish engineering standards, governance and best practice across all locations.
• Deliver continuous improvement initiatives that enhance performance and reduce costs.
• Build robust business cases and ensure investment projects deliver measurable returns.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety and regulatory requirements.

Engineering Director - The Role:

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will operate as a Board-level leader shaping and delivering engineering strategy across multiple manufacturing sites. You will lead engineering and maintenance teams, oversee major capital investment programmes, drive automation initiatives and enhance manufacturing performance. This highly visible role offers strategic influence over business decisions and long-term objectives alongside hands-on leadership of complex operations.

Engineering Director - Key Responsibilities:
