Job summary

The Heathrow Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, operated by K10 Apprenticeships, is recruiting an Engineering Design Technician Apprentice. Based in office design teams with site visits, you will learn to read and create CAD drawings and BIM models for engineering projects while adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or Functional Skills Level 2).
• Interest in engineering design and technology with a proactive attitude.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering design processes.

Responsibilities

• Identify inaccuracies or discrepancies in engineering drawings and specifications and propose solutions.
• Identify and assess factors that affect designs (materials, location, risk, environment).
• Design engineering concepts to solve engineering challenges.
• Develop effective solutions matching standards and reducing costs.
• Evaluate engineering designs to determine the best solution.
• Produce detailed drawings to relevant standards using paper and CAD/BIM.
• Check drawings for quality, technical compliance and completeness.
• Communicate design options with stakeholders through sketches, models and reports.
