Job description

Engineering Coordinator | Swindon, Wiltshire

Are you an organised engineering professional with experience coordinating contractors, permits, and maintenance activities in a fast-paced operational environment? We're looking for an Engineering Coordinator to play a key role in supporting safe, compliant, and efficient engineering operations across a busy manufacturing site. Working closely with engineering teams, contractors, and site stakeholders, you'll coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities, manage contractor control processes, review RAMS, issue permits, and ensure work is completed in line with safety, quality, and compliance requirements.

Join a global science and technology organisation that develops and manufactures innovative products supporting some of the world's leading pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. With a strong focus on quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement, the business offers employees the opportunity to work in a highly regulated environment where safety, collaboration, and career development are valued. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a complex manufacturing operation with the potential for longer-term opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate engineering contractors, service providers, and third-party vendors on site.
  • Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and issue Permits to Work.
  • Schedule and coordinate planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Manage engineering work orders through the site's maintenance management system.
  • Coordinate pest control, facilities-related activities, and engineering support services.
  • Ensure contractor activities comply with site safety standards, GMP requirements, and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, maintenance records, and contractor files.
  • Support engineering compliance activities, audits, investigations, and corrective actions where required.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to minimise disruption to site operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased operational efficiency.
  • Escalate safety, compliance, or performance issues appropriately.
  • Support the engineering team in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and reliability.
Requirements
  • Experience coordinating contractors within an engineering, manufacturing, facilities, or similar environment.
  • Experience reviewing RAMS and managing Permit to Work systems.
  • Experience using CMMS or ERP systems for maintenance management.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience maintaining engineering records and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Engineering qualification, relevant engineering experience, or currently working towards a recognised engineering qualification.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Experience with JDE ("JD Edwards") maintenance management systems.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems and TrackWise.
  • Experience supporting audits, investigations, deviations, change controls, and CAPA activities.

If you're an experienced engineering or facilities professional who enjoys coordinating multiple activities whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance, we'd love to hear from you.
