Mploy Group is seeking a Commercial Manager / Director Designate to join its Cheltenham facility. The role focuses on owning business development, customer relationships and commercial strategy within a growing engineering and manufacturing business.

You will lead commercial activities, shape strategy, and drive sales while working with production to optimise capacity and implement new revenue opportunities. A clear path exists toward senior leadership as the business grows.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical sales, business development, commercial management or a related engineering role.
• Background in manufacturing, precision engineering, fabrication or machining would be advantageous.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, laser cutting, waterjet cutting or CNC machining is beneficial.
• Ability to interpret customer requirements and develop commercially viable solutions.
• Experience preparing quotations, costing projects and negotiating contracts.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and commercial negotiation skills.
• Ambition to develop and grow a business.

Responsabilités

• Lead commercial activities, driving sales growth and identifying new business opportunities.
• Develop and execute a commercial strategy aligned with manufacturing capabilities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
• Identify opportunities across engineering, manufacturing and industrial sectors.
• Prepare accurate costings, quotations, proposals and tenders for manufacturing projects.
• Work closely with production teams to understand capacity, capabilities and project requirements.
• Conduct customer visits to assess technical requirements and recommend appropriate manufacturing solutions.
• Develop marketing materials and commercial initiatives to promote the business.
• Negotiate commercial agreements and manage customer expectations.
• Identify opportunities to expand the customer base across the South West and wider UK.
• Support sales forecasting, commercial reporting and strategic business planning.
• Represent the business professionally, promoting its technical expertise, quality and service.
