Job Description
The Engineering Assistant Manager will ensure the team drives improvements to production efficiencies, monitor and maintain improvement programs. The role will implement best practices, team development, personal development, and support the engineering strategy.
Working hours:
Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30
Key Duties of an Engineering Assistant Manager:
- Support and manage the engineering team's daily operations, reporting issues to the Engineering Manager.
- Assist in developing and implementing engineering strategies and procedures. Coordinate with different teams to ensure smooth project execution. Monitor and maintain all engineering equipment for optimal functionality.
- Drive the development and utilization of the CMMS system. Control the PPM system to ensure robust processes.
- Manage contractor relations, ensuring all paperwork is up-to-date, including RAMS and insurances. Conduct regular checks to ensure contractors are inducted before entering the site.
- Lead and manage the apprenticeship program, overseeing training schedules and roles.
- Step up and direct the department in the absence of the engineering managers.
- Ensure proper documentation for engineering activities, liaising with the Engineering Manager for accuracy.
- Handle disciplinary and grievance matters in accordance with company policies.
- Implement safety measures and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Oversee troubleshooting and repairs to resolve equipment issues.
Qualifications
- Experienced Engineering Team Leader, Senior Engineer, or Assistant Manager seeking the next career step.
- Recognized engineering qualification (minimum Level 3).
- Proven experience in engineering management or supervisory roles.
- Strong knowledge of engineering procedures and principles.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and collaborative work style. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
