IPL, Forza & Kober is seeking an Engineering Apprentice to join the onsite Engineering Team at our Normanton protein site, balancing hands-on maintenance with a structured apprenticeship to become a Multi‑Skilled Engineer.

You will support preventative maintenance, repairs and changeovers while gaining knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automated systems under supervision and through college study.

Qualifications

• Passion to complete an apprenticeship alongside practical work experience.
• Interest in maintaining and improving manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
• Support breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.

About The Role

Join Our Dynamic Onsite Operations Team at Forza Foods! We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Apprentice to become a vital part of our onsite Engineering Team at our Protein site in Normanton. If you are passionate about Engineering and eager to contribute to a dynamic team, this role is perfect for you.

You will support the Engineering Team in maintaining, repairing and improving manufacturing equipment and site services while undertaking a structured apprenticeship programme. The apprentice will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a qualified Multi‑Skilled Engineer through a combination of on‑the‑job training and formal study.

Engineering Support

• Assist engineers with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
• Support breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Learn how to fault‑find on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automated systems.
• Assist with equipment inspections and condition monitoring activities.
• Support machine changeovers and production start‑up activities.
• Help maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

Continuous Improvement

• Participate in engineering improvement projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Support waste reduction and energy‑saving initiatives.
• Assist with implementing engineering best practices and 5S standards.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Comply with food safety, hygiene and quality requirements.
• Support risk assessments and safe working practices.
• Report hazards, near misses and safety concerns promptly.

Learning & Development

• Attend college/university/apprenticeship training as required.
• Complete all coursework, assignments and assessments on time.
• Build knowledge of engineering principles, maintenance techniques and manufacturing processes.
• Work towards achieving apprenticeship qualifications and competency standards.
• Seek feedback and actively participate in personal development opportunities.
