INSPIRED Pet Nutrition is offering an Engineering Apprenticeship in Kinmel Bay, Conwy. You will learn maintenance engineering skills within a food manufacturing setting, working with the maintenance team to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations aligned to the site strategy.

The role involves completing a level 3 qualification, attending college weekly, and gaining hands-on experience in planned and predictive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Engineering appreciation and willingness to learn are required.
• GCSEs including Maths, English Language and Science (grade C/4 or above) are expected.
• An Engineering qualification (BTEC) or Pathways to Apprenticeship qualification would be desirable.
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is expected.

Responsibilities

• Complete level 3 NVQ qualification and attend college weekly.
• Perform planned and predictive maintenance of equipment and complete repairs.
• Assist with spares stock, ensuring critical spares are up to date.
• Help maintain a safe environment and champion safety practices.
• Contribute to root-cause analysis on breakdowns to drive improvements.
• Support energy reduction and sustainability initiatives on site.
• Participate in daily/weekly reviews to drive site-wide improvements.
• Engage in training and knowledge sharing with maintenance team.

Engineering Apprentice Inspired Pet Nutrition•Kinmel Bay, Conwy Principal Area, GB

The Role

To learn skills and gain experience towards becoming a Maintenance Engineer within Food Manufacturing. Working with the maintenance engineering team to establish and maintain safe, compliant, and effective engineering operations that continually develop the site's asset base by following the engineering strategy for proactive work whilst responding to breakdowns

On Offer:

• 37.5 hours per week between 8:30am and 5pm Monday to Friday (first 2 years then going onto 24/7 shift pattern year 3 & 4)
• 4 year apprenticeship - with the potential for a permanent Maintenance Technician position if successfully completed the apprenticeship

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure completion of relevant qualification of level 3 NVQ and attend college weekly at our nominated training provider.
• Work with the maintenance team to Perform planned and predictive maintenance of equipment and complete ad hoc repairs in a timely manner and by prioritising works in line with site priorities to ensure that efficient production is maintained
• Work with the maintenance team to assess the need for spares by ensuring that the critical spares and spares list is up to date and stock is at the required levels. Escalate any issues in a timely manner to the Engineering manager
• Work with the maintenance team to ensuring a safe environment by conducting all servicing and maintenance activities with minimal risk to employees, products and equipment. Champion safety
• Work with the maintenance team to start using route cause analysis on breakdowns to identify actions and drive completion of actions to prevent re-occurrence
• Work with the maintenance team to support the energy reduction and sustainability agenda to reduce environmental impacts across the site by ensuring all actions are completed
• Participate in daily and weekly review sessions to drive the improvement throughout the site
• Undertake training and engaging with other members of the maintenance team to wider knowledge in all areas of maintenance

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

• Engineering appreciation
• Willingness to learn
• Minimum of 4 GSCE's, including Maths, English Language and Science (grade C / 4 and above). An Engineering qualification (BTEC) or Pathways to Apprenticeship qualification would be desirable.
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
