Job summary

Gov Facility Services Ltd (GFSL) is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to enhance safety and maintenance at HMP Highdown. This role provides a chance to work within a supportive team focused on improving the prison environment and promoting rehabilitation. Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience working as a plumber or equivalent.
  • Ability to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Experience in commercial or industrial heating and water systems.

Job Role: Mechanical Engineer

Location: HMP Highdown (SM2)

Salary: £41,818.21 + an additional 5% salary in recognition of shift and weekend working.

Contract: Full Time - Perm

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Highdown a category C male prison.

As a Mechanical Engineer you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We Are a Ministry Of Justice Business And Provide Critical And Time-bound Services To HMPPS, And Are Looking For a Mechanical Engineer With Any Combination Of

  • Two years’ experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent
  • Be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems
  • Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
