Qualifications

  • Salary: £41,818.21 + 5% shift and weekend allowance
  • Contract: Full Time - Permanent
About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Highdown, a category C male prison. Join a supportive team working Monday to Sunday to maintain a safe environment. HMP Highdown functions like a self-contained city, requiring a team committed to smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, and others dedicated to safety and positive impact. Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
  • Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), and NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
  • Strong organizational and people skills
