Job Opportunity: Electrical Engineer at CITIC Pacific Mining

Sino Iron is the largest magnetite mining and downstream processing operation in Australia, located kilometers southwest of Karratha in the Pilbara mining hub.

Our fully integrated operation includes an open pit mine serviced by the world's largest haul trucks, a six-line concentrator, and port terminal facilities at Cape Preston. We also operate a state-of-the-art power station and desalination plant, among the largest in the state.

The Opportunity

CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support our Power Plant in Cape Preston on a permanent 8/6 roster, FIFO from Perth.

Reporting to the Superintendent - Electrical Engineering, this role involves providing engineering advice, expertise, and guidelines for commissioning, operation, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulations, Australian Standards, and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support operation, preventive maintenance, system or equipment modifications, and retrofit technical documentation.
• Conduct asset inspections, manage spare parts, review equipment operation parameters, and monitor inspection data.
• Develop activities, procedures, acceptance inspection criteria, and maintenance budgets.
• Schedule equipment maintenance and overhauls, and develop scope of work for outsourced contracts.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the OMT team.
• Participate in acceptance inspections, testing, and process optimization for performance improvements.

Qualifications and Skills

• A current WA Driver's License is essential.
• Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent, with at least 2 years of experience in power system design, commissioning, operation, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, protection, and control.
• Professional familiarity with generators, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, electric motors, VSDs, CTs, PTs, and protection relays.
• Experience with operation procedures, inspections, testing, maintenance, overhaul, and acceptance criteria for electrical equipment.
• Familiarity with asset management practices and software such as SAP.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards, practices, and statutory requirements related to electrical engineering.
