Job summary

MWH Treatment is seeking a Senior EICA Engineer based at Maple Lodge or Hampton with hybrid working and regular site visits. You will lead electrical design production, co-ordinate with disciplines, and ensure safety standards across turnkey and engineering contracts.

The role requires experience in water treatment design, staff supervision, and delivering cost-effective layouts. A professional engineering background and chartered status are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of water and sewage treatment processes.
  • Experience managing staff in design of water/sewage treatment plants.
  • Full Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
  • Relevant engineering degree or HND qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Produce design layouts and single-line diagrams for electrical systems.
  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines and maintain documentation.
  • Prepare cost-aware design proposals and feedback to Proposals department.
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are incorporated in design.
  • Support department development and process improvement.

Job description

We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior EICA Engineer based at Maple Lodge or Hampton, hybrid working available with an expectation to attend sites on a regular basis. You will report directly to the RDL and your role will be to provide superior quality EICA/Electrical Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will co-ordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications and standards pertaining to the contract. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Produce design layouts, Single Line Diagrams and electrical design deliverables which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively. The term 'cost' is to embrace all costs associated with the design and the subsequent construction of the design. To be cost effective the whole out turn cost of the design solution must be considered including design time costs, material costs, erection costs and any impact that the design solution might have on other disciplines.
  • Ensure that standard practices are utilised wherever possible.
  • Maintain competitiveness
  • Provide estimates and feedback for Proposals department
  • Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department
  • Assist in developing procedures and processes.
  • Monitor and review the procedures and processes.
  • Write, update and monitor efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department.
  • Ensure co-ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to MWHT in order to ensure that the design processes carried out on the contract are co-ordinated for the benefit of the contract as a whole.
  • Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
  • Assure customer satisfaction.

Essential
  • Understanding of electrical systems.
  • Understand the principles of water and sewage treatment.
  • Have experience of managing members of staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants
  • Full Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
  • Preferable: - relevant discipline Engineering degree
  • Minimum:- relevant discipline Engineering HND with extensive suitable experience.
  • Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts
  • Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, e.g. mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project management
  • A flexible mind, with the ability to assimilate large amounts of different data at one time
  • Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly
  • Computer literacy
  • Driving license
Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • Relevant Engineering Master's Degree
