About The Job

National Highways has an excellent opportunity for a Drainage Engineer to join our Drainage team in the East, Midlands, South West, and South East regions. In this role, you will identify and evaluate asset data and needs to develop early solutions, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria. You will also design highway renewals and maintenance schemes.

You will be required to drive as part of your role. You must have no more than 3 points on your driving license to be considered for this position and during employment.

1. Develop early solutions for drainage improvements and/or renewals, including compiling relevant documents, evidence adoptions for value management, and considering new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
2. Ensure asset data and condition information are captured and maintained in relevant databases, in line with standards and timescales.
3. Identify, prepare briefs, and support the delivery of survey work that supports drainage asset improvement and renewal.
4. Develop technical briefs for external design service contractors for improvement and renewal projects.
5. Design highway renewal and maintenance schemes for drainage.

About You

1. Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering (or similar) with vocational experience in drainage or highways.
2. Experience promoting drainage renewal schemes/projects with budget management skills.
3. Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application, with good understanding of CDM 2015 regulations.
4. Excellent stakeholder management skills.
5. Knowledge of highway drainage maintenance techniques and mitigation methods.
