Purpose of the Role

The Drainage Engineer is responsible for attending domestic and commercial sites, investigating wastewater issues, resolving customer problems, and making appropriate recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Liaising with customers on site professionally.
  2. Customer service and engagement.
  3. Investigating and diagnosing drainage issues via site surveys.
  4. Advising and implementing solutions such as drain clearance, de-scaling, root cutting, minor excavations, and patch lining.
  5. Performing preventative maintenance.
  6. Using high-pressure water jetters, CCTV survey equipment, and rods.
  7. Identifying potential concerns and recommending additional work.
  8. Interpreting drainage drawings and working independently within expertise areas.
  9. Reviewing and adhering to risk assessments and safety regulations.
  10. Maintaining a professional appearance and technical knowledge to promote brand awareness.
  11. Sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  12. Recommending operational improvements to Regional Managers.
  13. Ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations.
  14. Working efficiently under KPIs and establishing a sense of urgency.
  15. Performing other reasonable duties within capabilities.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
Experience
  • At least 1 year in the drainage sector.
  • Ideally 1 year of plumbing experience.
  • Technical expertise in drainage.
  • Drainage tanker experience preferred.
  • Full UK driving license with flexibility to travel.
  • CSCS card preferred.
  • Proficient in mobile communication and CRM applications.
Skills / Knowledge
  • Background in drainage engineering.
  • High-pressure water jetting (HPWJ) certification.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • DBS check required during onboarding.
  • Ability to work on an on-call rota providing 24-hour service.
