Job summary

Briggs Marine Group in the United Kingdom seeks a Duty Engineer to support the Technical Manager in ensuring safe operation of vessels within the Pilot Boat Service. You will maintain and repair engineering, electrical and hull systems on pilot boats and related vessels, with on-call duties as required.

The role requires a flexible, on-call schedule (every third week), a full UK driving licence and residency within one hour of Marine Base, Liverpool.

Qualifications

• Must have served time as a Marine Engineer, Plant Engineer, 4th Engineer or equivalent.
• Flexible with working hours due to on-call rota (every third week).
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Within 1 hour commuting distance of Marine Base, Liverpool.

Responsibilities

• Carry out duties of the Duty Engineer, including out-of-hours cover on a duty rota.
• Complete tasks related to the planned maintenance schedule.
• Assist with inventory maintenance for mechanical and electrical spares as directed.
• Maintain engineering checklists as directed by the Technical Manager.

The Role

In this role, you will support the Technical Manager in ensuring the safe operation of vessels within the Pilot Boat Service contract. This will include the maintenance and repair of all engineering, electrical and hull systems and equipment on pilot boats, gig boats, oil spill response vessels and survey boats. You will be required to provide out-of-hours cover as needed to support operational requirements.

Principal Responsibilities

• Carry out the responsibilities of the Duty Engineer, providing out-of-hours cover for the Pilot Boat Service on a duty rota basis
• Complete assigned tasks relating to the planned maintenance schedule
• Assist with the maintenance of the inventory of mechanical and electrical spares, as directed by the Technical Manager
• Maintain and retain engineering checklists as directed by the Technical Manager

The Candidate

• You must have served time as a Marine Engineer, Plant Engineer, 4th Engineer or equivalent.
• You must be flexible with working hours as there will be an on-call rota with availability required every third week.
• You must have a full UK Driving License.
• You must be within 1 hour commuting distance of Marine Base, Liverpool.
