Job summary

First Military Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Engineering Technician for a 6 Month FTC in Deeside to repair and overhaul electronic and electro-mechanical equipment in line with legislative and organisational standards, covering avionics, communications and navigation systems.

You will perform diagnostics, calibration and manufacture tasks down to component level, hold self-certification responsibilities, supervise juniors, and engage with internal and external stakeholders while following COSHH

Qualifications

• Holds relevant level 3 qualification and advanced/higher apprenticeship.
• A nationally recognised Electrical/Electronic engineering apprenticeship or Military equivalent.
• Practical engineering experience within your discipline or specialist area.

Responsibilities

• Perform self-directed test, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification and calibration down to component level.
• Certify, sign off and condition equipment (serviceable/unserviceable/scrap).
• Supervise and train junior staff and apprentices.
• Carry out feasibility and development activities including reverse engineering and documentation.
• Use a combination of IT software for diagnostics and testing.
• Provide specialist engineering advice as required.

Overview

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Engineering Technician on behalf of one of our clients.

To include the repair and overhaul of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment in a timely and efficient manner whilst complying with legislative and organisational standards. The role will cover the following areas: Avionics systems, communications systems, navigation systems, cable and test box manufacture.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform self-directed test, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification, calibration and manufacture of equipment down to module / individual component level using approved engineering documentation and techniques.
• Hold self-certification, over‑signing, certifying & conditioning of equipment responsibilities (e.g. serviceable / unserviceable / scrap).
• Supervision, training and over‑signing of junior / equivalent grade staff & apprentices.
• Carry out feasibility and development activity, including the reverse engineering and creation of supporting engineering documentation / test procedures.
• Use a combination of different IT software.
• Provide specialist advice as required.
• Work within a scheme of engineering governance.

Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and well organised candidate who can manage numerous tasks/projects individually and as part of the wider team. You will be required to engage with various internal and external stakeholders/customers.

Working knowledge of health and safety within a workshop environment.
