Job summary

First Military Recruitment are seeking an Engineering Technician on a 6 Month FTC based in Deeside. The role covers repair and overhaul of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment, including avionics, communications and navigation systems, with manufacturing of cables and test boxes.

Requirements include a Level 3 qualification or advanced apprenticeship, plus practical engineering experience and a proactive, well-organised approach.

Qualifications

• Requires a Level 3 qualification and an advanced/higher apprenticeship.
• Electrical/Electronic engineering apprenticeship or military equivalent.
• Practical engineering experience in the discipline.
• Ability to engage with internal/external stakeholders.
• Workshop health and safety knowledge.
• COSHH guidelines followed where chemicals are involved.

Responsibilities

• Perform self-directed testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification, calibration and manufacture of equipment to component level.
• Certify and condition equipment (serviceable/unserviceable/scrap).
• Supervise and train junior staff and apprentices.
• Carry out feasibility and development work, including reverse engineering and test procedures.
• Provide specialist advice within engineering governance.
• Utilise a range of IT software to support engineering tasks.

Engineering Technician 6 Month FTC

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Engineering Technician on behalf of one of our clients.

To include the repair and overhaul of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment in a timely and efficient manner whilst complying with legislative and organisational standards.The role will cover the following areas: Avionics systems, communications systems, navigation systems, cable and test box manufacture.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform self-directed test, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification, calibration and manufacture of equipment down to module / individual component level using approved engineering documentation and techniques.
• Hold self-certification, over-signing, certifying & conditioning of equipment responsibilities (e.g. serviceable / unserviceable / scrap).
• Supervision, training and over-signing of junior / equivalent grade staff & apprentices.
• Carry out feasibility and development activity, including the reverse engineering and creation of supporting engineering documentation / test procedures.
• Use a combination of different IT software.
• Provide specialist advice as required.
• Work within a scheme of engineering governance.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Holds relevant level 3 qualification and advanced/higher apprenticeship.
• A nationally recognised Electrical/Electronic engineering apprenticeship or Military equivalent.
• Practical engineering experience within your discipline or specialist area.
• We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and well organised candidate who can manage numerous tasks/projects individually and as part of the wider team.
• You will be required to engage with various internal and external stakeholders/customers.
• Working knowledge of health and safety within a workshop environment.
