Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is assisting a well-regarded Colchester secondary school to recruit a passionate Science Teacher for January start. The role offers the opportunity to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics within a collaborative Science department.

The successful candidate will inspire curiosity, deliver engaging lessons, assess progress and ensure safe laboratory practice while supporting learners of varying abilities. ECTs are welcome.

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE) with QTS.
• Degree or strong subject background in a science discipline.
• Ability to teach across key stages and adapt for different learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons across key stages.
• Teach Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics per school curriculum and candidate specialism.
• Include practical investigations, demonstrations and data analysis.
• Assess student understanding and provide feedback to support progress.
• Prepare students for examinations through structured practice and revision.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour, inclusion and laboratory safety.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and department improvement.
