Gloucestershire County Council in Gloucester is recruiting a countywide Energy Planning lead to drive local area energy planning on behalf of the seven Gloucestershire planning authorities, supporting the county’s growth and net zero ambitions.
The role will establish a single data set, energy pathways and net zero projects, working with the climate and decarbonisation team to deliver a unified centre for energy planning, pipeline development and delivery.

Gloucester City Council host this role and its wider team who deliver on our ambitious countywide response to the climate crisis on behalf of Climate Leadership Gloucestershire . The wider team work across the climate and sustainability spectrum from the built environment to nature and health, in partnership with industry, public and third sector partners.
With increased opportunities to detail Gloucestershire energy infrastructure needs through the evolution of new Regional Energy Strategic Plans the team is now working to develop detailed energy pathways, data modelling and stakeholder engagement to deliver an ambitious and actional plan to meet the county’s growth and net zero ambitions. This new countywide Energy Planning post will lead on local area energy planning on behalf of the seven Gloucestershire planning authorities assisting in transitioning the net zero energy portfolio into the future single unitary authority.
The role will seek to maintain strong relationships with the sector, both locally with leading net zero businesses, developers and large energy users but also regionally and nationally with the District Network Operators/Distribution system operators and National Energy Strategic Operator.
The role will take responsibility for establishing a single data set, energy pathways and net zero plans and projects for the county, providing a unified centre for energy planning, project pipeline development and delivery.
The role will work alongside and with the support of a broader landscape of countywide climate and decarbonisation officers to deliver collaborative community benefit and energy security outcomes for Gloucestershire.
