Our client is an exciting Energy Investment company based in London, and this role provides the incumbent with a unique opportunity to join this dynamic and ever-changing business .

Our client has two core functions: Investment Function representing Front Office Trading; and Non-Investment Function representing the running of the business and is responsible for defining and implementing an effective operational and risk framework across all functions. This area includes: Business Management, Risk, Operations, Compliance, Human Resources, Technology

The Operations/Trades Analyst role is within the Non-Investment Function, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.

The successful candidate will join a small, high-profile team tasked with investment management services for clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role holder will be responsible for End-to-end post-execution Trade Flows, this includes:

  • Daily reconciliations between trades, executing brokers, clearing brokers and Administrators
  • Working closely with the traders to ensure the correct trades are represented and reporting capabilities are fungible for different users e.g., data to be represented differently for Traders compared to Risk
  • Working with executing brokers and Clearers to ensure trades are captured correctly
  • Brokerage Fee reconciliation
  • Daily reporting for risk function and front office
  • Understanding and use of Give-Up Agreement and associated process
  • Support in operations projects

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The role requires an early start around 7am – ready for the traders opening time for trading activities in the markets
  • At least two years’ experience, previously worked in similar capacity.
  • Experienced/understanding in pre and post-execution trade flow activities with understanding of end-to-end trade flow from point of order through to PnL estimates.
  • Understanding of EEX, CME, ICE exchanges and Nasdaq and its type of Energy Products, specifically Oil, Gas, Power, Carbon and Coal
  • Working knowledge of exchange traded derivative (e.g. Futures, Options) and its mechanism (e.g. cash requirements and variation and initiation margin requirements)
  • Working knowledge of exchange traded derivative
  • Highly proficient in Excel (Excel VBA would be an advantage but not a prerequisite)
  • Degree holder in an analytical subject
  • Dynamic individual with high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Analytical and critical approach to tasks and proactive problem-solving capabilities
  • Teamwork orientated with a follow-through attitude
  • Go-getter attitude with a dogmatic approach to delivery and issue resolution
