GWS delivers integrated facilities management, project management, and real estate services to some of the world's most complex and demanding occupiers to help them reduce cost, manage risk, and meet their sustainability commitments.

On our client's Real Estate account, CBRE GWS provides end-to-end FM and engineering services across a global portfolio spanning five regions and approximately 100 buildings. Environmental sustainability is a core pillar of this account, with ambitious net-zero targets, active participation in RE100, EP100, and CDP, and a growing programme of energy and decarbonisation investment.

The role

This is a high-impact technical role at the centre of CBRE GWS's sustainability delivery for the client. You will own the clients utilities management platform, lead energy and emissions reporting across a complex global portfolio, and provide the analytical rigour that underpins investment decisions, net-zero trajectory planning, and ESG disclosures.

Working at the interface of engineering, data, and strategy, you will collaborate with regional FM and engineering teams, Tier 1 vendor partners, and the client's own sustainability function, translating operational data into insight and insight into action. This is a role for someone who combines strong technical foundations with the communication skills to influence at all levels.

Responsibilities
Energy management
  • Own and continuously improve energy and emissions reporting practices for GWS/GRE ESG disclosures, ensuring alignment with baseline and target reduction pathways and clear differentiation between metered and extrapolated data in line with EP100 and CDP requirements.
  • Lead alignment across regional FM and Engineering teams and Tier 1 vendor partners on energy management best practices, data collection, and reporting governance.
  • Manage the utility tracking platform, maintaining data integrity and delivering performance reporting for regional FM teams.
  • Oversee energy-efficiency and utility-cost reduction programmes across the portfolio, tracking performance against targets and contributing to updates of GRE Engineering policies and standards.
Sustainability & ESG reporting
  • Lead the preparation and submission of global sustainability disclosures including RE100, EP100, and CDP, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and regulatory alignment.
  • Oversee the review and reporting of energy-reduction and sustainability initiatives (EIAs), maintaining a clear record of performance and outcomes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including the client's Environmental Sustainability function and external agencies (CSRD, CDP, EP100), to progress decarbonisation targets.
  • Drive the continuous development of the client's net-zero dashboard and maintain ongoing forecasting against the bank's net-zero commitments and headline sustainability targets.
Net-zero trajectory & decarbonisation planning
  • Develop and maintain building-level net-zero trajectory plans across the portfolio, ensuring each asset has a clear, evidenced decarbonisation pathway aligned to the clients headline targets.
  • Model decarbonisation pathways at both building and portfolio level, identifying performance gaps, intervention options, and the optimal sequencing of measures to meet net-zero commitments.
  • Provide portfolio-level carbon analysis and investment prioritisation advice to support Eco PMO business cases, decarbonisation plans, and capital allocation decisions.
Data ownership & technical governance
  • Act as the global technical owner for energy and emissions data standards, methodologies, and assumptions across the clients account, providing authoritative guidance to GWS and client teams.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a centralised site-list database, managing building-site attributes (IDs, rentable area, operational status, asset classification) to underpin accurate reporting.
  • Define and enforce consistent application of operational control criteria and building classification standards across Resource Advisor and internal platforms.
  • Be accountable for data quality, completeness, and consistency across all GWS energy and emissions outputs used for reporting, disclosure, and performance tracking.
Skills & experience
Essential
  • Demonstrable experience in energy management, building services engineering, ESG reporting, or sustainability, ideally within a corporate real estate or FM environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of energy and carbon reporting frameworks and voluntary disclosures, including EP100, RE100, CDP, and CSRD.
  • Experience developing or maintaining building-level net-zero trajectory plans and decarbonisation pathways, with the ability to model performance gaps and intervention options.
  • Proven ability to support capital planning and investment prioritisation for energy and decarbonisation projects, including the preparation of structured business cases.
  • Advanced data-handling skills, with the ability to consolidate information from multiple platforms, identify quality issues, and produce clear, fact-based analytical outputs.
  • Familiarity with energy management and utility tracking platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical content for non-technical audiences and senior stakeholders.
Desirable
  • Experience working within a large, complex FM or real estate account with exposure to Tier 1 vendor management.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, and a willingness to develop dashboard and reporting capabilities.
