Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Technical Principal or Technical Director level environmental consultant to join our Energy, Environment and Social team. The role focuses on environmental direction for energy projects, including grid connections and renewables, with strong client engagement and bid activity.

You'll lead environmental strategies, coordinate with engineering teams, manage sub-consultants, and help deliver the team’s growth plan while traveling as required. Fluent English required.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
• Degree and Masters in an environmental subject.
• Led DCO applications and permitting for UK energy projects (transmission, distribution, solar, hydro, wind, thermal).
• Extensive experience in developing client relationships and preparing proposals.
• Understanding of technical aspects of energy projects.
• Experience guiding junior staff and delivering to tight budgets/timescales.
• Ability to lead teams and coordinate with engineers and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead the environment and consent team for large linear projects in the energy sector.
• Work with engineering teams to ensure environmental considerations are integrated during development.
• Support contractors to meet environmental requirements and ensure deliverables.
• Provide leadership and technical assurance for proposals and projects.
• Direct projects and manage client relationships and sub-consultants.
• Travel as required to support activities.
