Responsibilities

• Coordinate energy improvement initiatives and provide technical support to onsite project teams.

• Fault finding, diagnosis, testing, and optimisation of HVAC and building services to save energy.
• Inspect, test and replace components on HVAC plant to maintain safe, reliable operation.
• Analyse plant performance, identify faults and implement corrective actions to improve energy efficiency.
• Maintain documentation and performance reports for energy and carbon reduction activities.
• Monitor site energy consumption and support ongoing performance improvement.

Role Purpose:

CBRE is seeking an experienced Senior Energy Engineer to play a key role in delivering energy efficiency and sustainability programmes across the clients Stevenage campus. Reporting to the Energy Programme Manager, this site-based position will lead the coordination and implementation of energy and carbon reduction initiatives, ensuring projects are executed safely, effectively, and in full alignment with client objectives, operational requirements, and sustainability targets.

The Senior Energy Engineer will act as the on-site technical representative for energy-related activities, translating programme objectives into practical site delivery. Working under the direction of the Energy Programme Manager, the role will oversee contractors, manage permit-to-work activities, coordinate project execution, support commissioning activities and ensure that energy projects are integrated effectively within a live operational environment.

The role requires close collaboration with site operations, project stakeholders and third party contractors to ensure successful delivery of the site's energy and decarbonisation programme while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Energy & Decarbonisation Programme Support

• Support the Energy Programme Manager in the delivery of the site's energy and carbon reduction programme through the coordination, implementation and technical support of energy improvement initiatives and activities.
• Provide technical and operational support to onsite project teams delivering energy and decarbonisation projects.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover activities associated with completed energy improvement projects.
• Undertake hands-on fault finding, diagnosis, testing, repair and optimisation of HVAC and associated building services systems to identify energy-saving opportunities and improve system performance.
• Carry out inspections, functional testing, component replacement and repair works on HVAC plant and equipment, ensuring systems are restored to safe, reliable and efficient operation.
• Analyse plant performance, investigate system faults and implement corrective actions to improve energy efficiency, operational reliability and occupant comfort.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and performance reports relating to energy and carbon reduction activities.Assist in the monitoring, analysis and reporting of site energy consumption to support ongoing performance improvement.

Contractor Management & Site Supervision

• Supervise contractors undertaking energy and infrastructure improvement works across the site.
• Ensure all contractors comply with the clients and CBRE health, safety and environmental standards.
• Review contractor documentation including Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Conduct contractor inductions, site briefings and toolbox talks as required.
• Monitor work quality, progress and compliance with project requirements.
• Escalate delivery, safety or quality concerns to the Energy Programme Manager where necessary.

Permit to Work & Safety Management

• Act as an authorised Permit Issuer under the site's Permit to Work system.
• Issue, manage and close permits for activities including:
• Hot Works
• Work at Height
• Confined Space Entry
• Electrical Isolation
• Mechanical Isolation
• Verify isolations and safe systems of work prior to commencement of activities.
• Undertake routine site inspections and contractor safety audits.
• Ensure compliance with CBRE procedures, clients standards and relevant legislation.
• Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation where required.

Technical Support & Coordination

• Provide technical oversight during installation, modification and commissioning of energy-related equipment and systems.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to facilitate project delivery within a live GMP environment.
• Support engineering reviews, site surveys and technical assessments as requested by the Energy Programme Manager.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with approved specifications, engineering standards and site procedures.
• Maintain records relating to permits, isolations, engineering changes and project activities.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with the Energy Programme Manager, site operations teams and client representatives.
• Attend project meetings and provide updates on site progress, risks and constraints.
• Support communication between contractors, operational teams and project stakeholders.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of the site's energy, sustainability and decarbonisation objectives.
