Job summary

J Murphy & Sons is recruiting a Buyer to support Energy on Murphy OHL Diversions and New Build projects. You will manage subcontract buying, contract arrangements, supplier performance, and ensure comprehensive package details to protect the business in its dealings with suppliers and sub-contractors.

The role requires travel to site, a good understanding of strategic procurement, sustainability considerations, and the ability to deliver best value for money across regional projects, while

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in subcontract buying.
• Ideally with OHL exposure.
• Knowledge of strategic procurement practices.
• Understanding of sustainability within procurement.
• Good working knowledge of contracts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive and protect the business in its dealings with suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Monitor supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position.
• Ensure supplier evaluation forms and risk assessments are maintained.
• Work package procurement for regional projects.
• Deliver a consistent procurement approach across projects in the region.
• Aim for best overall value for money in procurement recommendations and negotiation processes.
• Ensure decisions target value over price alone.
• Input to market monitoring to understand pricing trends, risks and opportunities.
• Seek and assess new supply chain members to meet regional demand.
• Support development of supply chain, products and innovations for cost/buildability benefits.
• Develop relationships with strategic supply chain for mutual benefit and learning.
• Establish good relationships with internal clients and project teams.
• Attend regional supply chain events to promote Murphy and teamwork.
