Job summary

J. Murphy & Sons Ltd. is seeking a Subcontract Buyer to join the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework in Inverness.

The role focuses on procuring sub-contractors and materials, supporting procurement schedules, and delivering best-value procurement solutions for complex energy projects. Ideal candidates will have detailed knowledge of construction procurement practices, a strong supplier network, and experience with NEC contracts.

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes and procedures within the construction procurement process.
• Existing business network and relationships with the supply chain.
• Working knowledge of contracts i.e. NEC.
• Understanding of effective procurement practices
• Knowledge of sustainability within procurement practices

Responsibilities

• Provide an effective and professional service in the procurement of sub-contractors and materials.
• Work as part of a collaborative procurement team for the project.
• Provide best value for project procurement solutions for the project.
• Procurement of materials and subcontracts covering; production and management of the procurement schedule, development of invitation to bid documents in conjunction with project teams. Carry out bid analysis and award recommendations.
• Advise on the project’s supply chain management activities, including structuring the supply chain and carrying out performance and relationship management to drive improved performance/cost benefits.
• Support activities that generate and encourage efficient, productive and continuously improving supply chain performance.
• Take part in group procurement functional goals and objectives within the region.
• Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet project demand.
• Develop and forge closer relationships with the supply chain to encourage a culture of inclusive interaction and learning and an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.
