Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Senior Buyer to work with Energy on the GGP project based out of Ollerton. The role focuses on procuring subcontractors, developing the regional supply chain, and delivering best value procurement strategies across projects in the region.

Candidates should have NEC experience and ideally Substation or OHL exposure, with CIPS accreditation and strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to drive efficient supply chain performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement within construction or civil engineering environments.
• Preferably Substation or OHL experience.
• NEC experience.
• Understanding of construction pre-construction to construction processes.
• Ability to liaise with staff and external contacts at all levels.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Buyer:

- Provide an effective and professional service in the procurement of sub-contractors

- Provide market competitive procurement solutions for the operating unit which demonstrate best overall value for money.

- Propose the procurement strategy for the regional operating unit and develop the regional supply chain to suit the demand.

- Supply chain management, including structuring the supply chain, carrying out performance and relationship management to drive improved performance/cost benefits.

- Generate and encourage an efficient, productive and continuously improving supply chain performance within the trades.

- Support the group procurement functional goals and objectives within the region.

- Deliver a consistent procurement approach across all projects within the regional operating unit from work winning / pre-construction stage.

- Demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations.

- Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process.

- Develop an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to the regional operating unit demand and overall Murphy strategy.

- Consistently monitor the market place to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks and opportunities.

- Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet regional operating unit project demand.

- Develop and forge closer relationships with the strategic supply chain to encourage a culture of inclusive interaction and learning and an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.

- Integrate with other regional operating units to co-ordinate the procurement of the strategic supply chain, providing regular information on the regional activities.

- Experience within a procurement role, preferably gained within a construction or civil engineering environment. Ideally with Substation or OHL experience.

- CIPS accredited.

- Detailed knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes and procedures within the construction process from pre-construction stage and into construction stage.

- Must have NEC experience

- Good interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively and work collaboratively with all staff and external contacts at all levels

- Knowledge of key trades for Power, Transmission & Distribution projects / supply chain again is desirable.
