The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of
£36,124 - £42,708 per annum (pro rata for part-time).

What we are looking for
We are seeking an
Energy and Carbon Officer
to join our
Climate Change and Nature Recovery Team. To be successful, you will share our values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our clients and communities.
About the role
Reporting to the Climate Change Manager, you will support the Councils' Climate Change priorities, manage and monitor energy usage across its estate, and support various energy and carbon projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordination of energy management for the corporate estate, monitoring and analyzing energy usage across council-owned buildings and facilities, working alongside Estates teams.
- Energy management and decarbonisation planning for council estate and operations, identifying opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy integration.
- Development and implementation of energy-saving initiatives and projects, supporting community energy initiatives.
- Collection, analysis, and reporting on energy and emissions, monitoring progress against objectives, and capturing impacts of interventions.
- Policy development and advice, contributing to council policies, and providing advice on energy, including consultation responses, planning applications, and energy planning activities where appropriate.
- Supporting the delivery of the councils' 2030 Net Zero target, and associated strategies for Climate and Nature Recovery, assessing energy and carbon implications of projects and policies.
- Contributing to broader Net Zero goals of the council.
- Promoting behaviour change initiatives to encourage energy efficiency among council employees.
About you
We look for an experienced climate professional passionate about tackling climate change and delivering measurable impact.
With a degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Science, Energy Management, or Engineering, ideally a member of IEMA or EI.
You will have project and programme management experience, attention to detail, and strong data management and reporting skills.
A collaborative mindset and enjoyment working with diverse teams across disciplines.
