Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support the Endoscopy Department in Newport. You will provide direct and indirect patient care, prep and maintain endoscopy suites and equipment, and assist physicians and registered nurses during procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Rhode Island Nursing Assistant registration preferred.
• Basic computer data entry skills.
• Current CPR certification.
• Sterile supply processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians with specimen capture and retrieval.
• Assists during endoscopy procedures by passing scopes and accessories.
• Prepares equipment for endoscopic procedures and maintains supplies.
• Prepares topical anesthetics under supervision.
• Assists with patient positioning during procedures.
• Maintains endoscopy equipment cleaning and disinfection procedures.
• Performs daily inspection of endoscopes for expiration dates and reprocesses as needed.
• Maintains infection control and safety standards.
• Covers Surgical Services reception as needed.
