Job summary

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust’s Endoscopy Unit is seeking an Endoscopy Support Worker to join a busy team. The role requires theatre experience and an NHS care certificate, with responsibilities spanning decontamination, traceability and supporting the MDT in delivering high-quality patient care.

The unit provides bowel cancer screening with multiple procedure rooms and is expanding to meet increasing workload. The candidate should work well under supervision and be willing to learn.

Qualifications

• Good standard of general education.
• Completion of the National Decontamination Training and Endoscopy Training (e-learning)
• Must have NHS care certificate

Responsibilities

• Assist with the Decontamination and reprocessing of Endoscopy equipment in accordance with local and national guidelines.
• Maintain accurate traceability records of all endoscopes and endoscopic accessories and ancillaries.
• Assist with quality assurance checks.
• Participate in testing of rinse water
• To assist qualified staff in monitoring agreed standards of practice within the unit.
• To participate in the Trust’s Individual Performance Review process and demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development by working towards the objectives agreed within an annual Personal Development Plan.
• To participate in local Clinical Supervision.
• Attend designated Study Days, and complete relevant training activities and assessments.
