Job summary

CHEC is seeking a full-time endoscopy practitioner to support the endoscopy unit across the procedure room and recovery area. You will assist the endoscopist, monitor during sedation, and help maintain patient safety and dignity from pre-admission to discharge.

The role requires NMC or HCPC registration, a calm, patient-centred approach, and a commitment to ongoing training. Training visits to CHEC hospitals are included within the normal working day.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
• Calm, focused approach in a fast-paced, patient-centred setting.
• Confidence assisting with conscious sedation and post-procedure monitoring.
• Commitment to developing clinical skills through ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare clinical areas, equipment and instruments in line with infection control protocols.
• Take patient admissions and baseline observations, requesting sedation when competent.
• Assist the endoscopist or gastroenterologist during procedures, including scope handling and patient positioning.
• Monitor patients in recovery, including vital signs, sedation recovery and discharge instructions.
• Keep the endoscopy list flowing smoothly to CHEC standard operating procedures.
