Job summary

Xyla Elective Care is seeking experienced Endoscopy Nurses to support weekend endoscopy and bowel screening services at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care across admission, procedure support, and recovery stages of the patient pathway.

You will play a key role in ensuring safe, effective patient care while supporting Consultants during procedures, administering sedation, completing clinical documentation, and assisting

Qualifications

  • NMC-registered nurse with UK pin.
  • Endoscopy experience in NHS or independent healthcare setting.
  • Competent in patient assessment, observations, cannulation, and recovery.
  • Experience supporting endoscopic procedures and administering sedation.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and clinical governance standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work in a MDT.
  • Strong organisational skills in a busy clinical environment.
  • Flexible, reliable and patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

Xyla Elective Care is seeking experienced Endoscopy Nurses to support weekend endoscopy and bowel screening services at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care across admission, procedure support, and recovery stages of the patient pathway., You will play a key role in ensuring safe, effective patient care while supporting Consultants during procedures, administering sedation, completing clinical documentation, and assisting with patient recovery.,

Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, high-quality patient care throughout the endoscopy pathway, including admission, procedure support, and recovery.
  • Support Consultants during endoscopic procedures and assist with the administration of sedation where required.
  • Complete patient assessments, observations, cannulation, and preparation prior to procedures.
  • Undertake accurate clinical documentation, reporting, and prescription-related activities within the unit.
  • Monitor patients during recovery and ensure they are fit for discharge in line with clinical protocols.
  • Escalate urgent clinical concerns and support multidisciplinary team (MDT) decision-making where appropriate.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care to patients undergoing endoscopy and bowel screening procedures, ensuring a safe and positive patient experience throughout their treatment journey.
  • The successful candidate will support patients through admission, procedure, and recovery, carrying out assessments, observations, cannulation, and patient preparation. You will work closely with Consultants during endoscopic procedures, assist with sedation administration, complete the WHO safety checklist, and maintain accurate clinical documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled Endoscopy Nurses looking for ongoing weekend work within a well-supported service, helping to reduce NHS waiting times and deliver outstanding patient care.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (NMC Registered) with a valid UK nursing pin.
  • Previous Endoscopy experience within an NHS or independent healthcare setting.
  • Competent in patient assessment, observations, cannulation, and recovery care.
  • Experience supporting endoscopic procedures and administering sedation.
  • Strong understanding of infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical governance standards.
  • Ability to complete accurate clinical documentation and maintain confidential patient records.
  • Knowledge of the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and endoscopy patient pathways.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to reassure and support patients.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment.
  • Flexible, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality patient-centred care.

Job Details

This is an ongoing weekend opportunity, working Saturdays and Sundays from 08:30 to 17:00, supporting three endoscopy rooms. The role offers a competitive rate of £308 per day, with travel and accommodation reimbursement of up to £50 per shift.
