Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Endoscopy Nurse to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care for diagnostic procedures such as Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and Flexible Sigmoidoscopy.

The role supports patients through the diagnostic journey, with a Monday to Friday service operating between 08:00 and 18:00, and flexible patterns available. Training and development opportunities are provided to enhance clinical skills within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Previous endoscopy experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assessment, delivery and recording of direct & indirect care to patients undergoing diagnostic endoscopic procedures.
• To set up equipment required and assist during endoscopic procedures.
• Management of biopsies and specimens according to local procedures.
• Delegate to registered nurse/ other team members when fit to do so.
• Participate in maintaining standards as set in the Global Rating Scale for Endoscopy and JAG accreditation.
• Expansion and ongoing development of nursing skills through personal development and transfer of skills to others.
• Administration of drugs as prescribed according to Trust policy and NMC regulations.
• Contribute to the development of the unit focusing on timely, efficient and high-quality services.
• Demonstrate knowledge of decontamination of endoscopes, waste, COSHH, Health and Safety and Infection Control guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with patients and staff within the multidisciplinary team.
• Expand clinical nursing role in advanced nursing competencies within Trust developments.
• Comply with NMC Code of Practice and maintain a professional portfolio.
• Participate in annual appraisal with the manager and produce a personal development plan.
