Job summary

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust seeks an EDU Technician for its Endoscopy Decontamination Unit. You will decontaminate flexible endoscopes under strict infection control standards and maintain complete traceability of all equipment.

The role requires adherence to HTM 01-06, COSHH regulations, and local procedures while supporting audits and ongoing quality improvement within the unit.

Qualifications

• Follow HTM 01-06 and local procedures.
• Demonstrate COSHH and safety compliance.
• Maintain traceability of endoscopes and accessories.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the decontamination, disinfection, inspection, testing, and preparation of flexible endoscopes and associated equipment in accordance with national guidelines, local policies, and manufacturers' instructions.
• Operate and monitor endoscope washer disinfectors and other decontamination equipment, ensuring all cycles are completed correctly and documented accurately.
• Perform leak testing, visual inspection, and functional checks of endoscopes before and after decontamination to identify any faults or damage.
• Maintain accurate records and traceability documentation for all endoscopes and accessories processed within the unit.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, infection prevention and control standards, and Joint Advisory Group (JAG) and HTM 01-06 requirements.
