Job summary

The Hereford Church of England Academy, a year 11–16 secondary school on the edge of Hereford, is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support access to learning, deliver interventions and assist with EHCPs and ESL pupils. You will help prepare resources, support classroom management and work with students aged 11 to 16 to help them succeed.

The post offers 37 hours per week during term time plus inset days, with a six‑month probation and progression from Grade 4 to 6 on the local pay spine.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidate has at least six months' school-based Teaching Assistant experience.
• Good organisational, timekeeping and ICT skills.
• Calm, positive manner; able to support students aged 11–16 to succeed.
• Willingness to assist with EHCPs and students with English as an Additional Language.

Responsibilities

• Support access to learning and deliver interventions under the guidance of teaching staff.
• Assist the teacher in managing pupils and the classroom.
• Prepare and maintain resources and equipment; assist with assessment and recording.
• Support pupils both in and out of the classroom.
