Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Skelmersdale is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and Complex Needs in specialist settings. Full-time and part-time roles are available, offering an opportunity for experienced education professionals and those transitioning into SEN education.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with additional needs in education or care settings.
  • Patient, caring, and resilient with strong relationship skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with Autism and Complex Needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Help students engage in classroom activities and follow individual learning plans.
  • Use communication strategies such as visual aids, PECS, Makaton or other methods.
  • Support sensory, emotional and behavioural needs in a calm, positive manner.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and social development.
  • Assist with personal care where required.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapy teams to provide the best outcomes.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
