Job summary

Novus Transforming Lives is recruiting a Personal and Social Development Teacher to support learners at HMP Forest Bank in Manchester. This part-time, 17-hour-per-week role focuses on delivering engaging PSD sessions that build confidence, wellbeing and future progression for sentenced and remanded learners.

You will plan learner-centred activities, maintain records and collaborate across the education team to meet accreditation and learning goals. DBS checks apply and safeguarding is a priority.

Qualifications

• Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification, or be willing to work towards one qualification within an agreed timescale.
• Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
• Have experience of delivering high-quality, learner-focused teaching, ideally within Personal and Social Development or a related curriculum area
• Be able to create stimulating and inclusive learning environments that motivate learners and support positive outcomes
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and enthuse learners
• Have strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records
• Work positively as part of a team and contribute to continuous improvement in teaching, learning and learner achievement

Responsibilities

• Deliver wing-based PSD sessions and a range of accredited and non-accredited programmes
• Plan and deliver learner-centred PSD sessions to build confidence and resilience
• Cover topics such as Healthy Living, Money Management and Relationships
• Create inclusive learning environments and adapt teaching to meet needs
• Maintain accurate learner records and support accreditation requirements
• Collaborate with colleagues across education and the establishment
