Job summary

Expanse Learning Leigh College is recruiting Teaching Assistants to support Post-16 SEND students at the Orrell and Leigh sites. You will help with learning, independence, and preparation for adulthood in a supportive, inclusive environment.

The role involves assisting teachers, preparing resources, and contributing to safeguarding and personal care as needed. We value dedication, compassion, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience supporting individuals with learning difficulties and/or disabilities including those with profound and complex needs.
• Understanding SEND support needs (including profound/complex needs, mental health difficulties).
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Good communication and people skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students under the supervision of the teacher.
• Assist in preparation of learning resources.
• Encourage confidence, self-esteem, and independence.
• Support students to develop knowledge and skills for adulthood.
• Provide pastoral and educational support, IAG and signposting as needed.
• Help students understand instructions through repetition or demonstration.
• Deliver learning support and assist with personal care when required.
